Germany Continues to Break Solar PV Records

In the past eight months, Germany has added nearly 175,000 new solar installations totaling 4,900MW of electricity capacity.

Based on this current install rate, Germany is on track to add enough solar power to supply the equivalent of 1% of the nation’s total electricity demand.  With this increased capacity, solar is expected to account for nearly 2% of domestic electricity demand in Germany next year.

Wind energy has also made significant inroads in the German market, satisfying nearly 6.5% of all electricity demand in 2009.  Read more…
